    BIOGRAPHY
    Monty Alexander is a world renown pianist and Caribbean-Jazz pioneer who fuses reggae, calypso and other tropical genres with Jazz arrangements and improvisation.

    Alexander was born in Kingston, Jamaica where he began playing the piano at the age of 4 and taking classical lessons at the age of 6. His interest in jazz was sparked as a teenager after attending Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole's concerts in Jamaica.

    Alexander migrated with his family to the USA in the 1960's. He took up residence at Jillys Jazz Club in New York where he performed with musical giants such as Frank Sinatra. He has recorded over 70 albums as a leader including two critically acclaimed jazz tributes to Bob Marley.

    Alexander maintains a rigorous touring schedule worldwide, from jazz clubs to concert halls from Switzerland to South Africa, Japan and Australia performing on renown festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival.

    Alexander is available as a trio or with larger ensembles.
